A comforting breakfast beverage, this oat drink is reminiscent of horchata, but served hot. The rolled oats soften and create a silky texture with slight bite, producing a drink that is both sippable and filling. Honey and cinnamon are the classic flavors, but feel free to use the base as a canvas for other add-ins as well. Leftover mosh can be chilled, blended, and served over ice for a refreshing glass of agua de avena.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sprouted rolled oats
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1-2 tbsp. honey
Directions:
Add the rolled oats and 2 cups of the milk to a saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir almost constantly to prevent sticking. Bring to a low simmer and continue to stir for 10 minutes. Once mixture has noticeably thickened and become frothy, add the cinnamon, honey, and remaining ½ cup of milk. Whisk and heat for another minute or two, then portion into mugs and sprinkle with a bit more cinnamon, if desired. ¡Buen provecho!
